When wedding planner, Jamie from Absolute plans her own wedding you know something ahhmazing will be brought to life. Jamie created a gorgeous combination of eclectic style and uncommon pairings to create a unique and moody design that was truly their own, a beautifully eclectic wedding sure to make you swoon.
Both the bride and groom knew they didn’t want a wedding with the traditional and overplayed color palette, instead, they wanted to incorporate their love for deep, dark and exotic colors and textures. During the planning process, they became obsessed with oxblood and decided to center their wedding day elements around this bold color. Pairing their primary color, oxblood, with deep burgundies, blacks, and touches of gold and greenery, they created a sophisticated and sexy wedding. With candlelight everywhere, many guests referred to their wedding day as a Gotham City gala.
“We did a mix of rounds and royal tables in the reception area, and with a venue as beautiful as the historic Alfred I DuPont building with such high ceilings, we wanted to do 3 different designs, high, medium, and low, when it came to our tablescapes.”
This mixture of various styles helped them achieve the eclectic, free-flowing style they were going for. The all black tablescapes created a dramatic eye-catching, unique, sexy and totally unforgettable design, one that their guests are still talking about.
When we asked Jamie, and her husband Alex, what their favorite part of their wedding day was, they both agreed that the band was their absolute favorite! Together, they both share a deep love for music, it’s something they just feel in their bones, and the New Orleans style Second Line Band was the icing on the cake for their incredible eclectic wedding. Alex was taken aback by the way Jamie made sure she personalized their special day by incorporating such a personal element to their wedding day. He knows she does this for other brides all the time, but having it done for their own special day felt like a grand gesture that made him feel like nothing else mattered but what they mean to each other.
We also asked Jamie and Alex “what’s the one memory that you and your guests still talk about today?”, and without hesitation, the Grilled Cheese station was the first thing that came to mind. They described the comfort food in much detail, mentioning the ooey, gooey, gluttonous, buttery variety of grilled cheeses served that night, currently making our mouths water.
But, in reality, they had a difficult time just choosing one part of their wedding that they loved the most. Jamie and their guests were in awe of the handmade aisle runner Alex made. He compiled letters and poems he had written to Jamie throughout the years and surprised her with this romantic gesture for her to walk down the aisle to.
The love these two have for one another has us wanting to get married all over again, especially with their beautifully eclectic style that we are still swooning over.
