Top Bridal Hair Trends for 2022

We’re so thrilled to be able to (almost) return to pre-pandemic life, and big, in-person weddings are one of the traditions returning in 2022. But instead of the showy, over-the-top bridal hair trends of 2019 and earlier, one of the big trends that has emerged this year is the minimalist, natural look.

The best thing about the popular hairstyles of this summer is that they can complement any dress style and any personality. And after two years of pared-down weddings, brides want their dresses to take center stage.

“Whether it be a less-structured, effortless look or a sleek approach to an updo, the attention is not to be on the hair,” Grace Aguado of Your Face By Grace in Miami told the Wedding Wire. “The simplicity of the glam look creates less attention to be taken from the dress,” she said.

And whichever of the 2022 bridal hair trends you choose, you should let the real you shine through.

“I always say that a bride should look like a more-polished version of herself on her wedding day,” New York City-based bridal hairstylist Lauren Baxter told Allure. “If you’re someone who always wears their hair down, and feel more comfortable with it down, then wear it down,” she added. “Same goes if you always wear it up.”

Up

If you prefer an updo, it’s best to keep it simple. The tousled chignon is one of the most popular dos for brides this year, because it goes well with almost any dress.

“Brides are loving the tousled updo as it’s so romantic and soft looking, which really fits in line with many bridal gowns,” wedding hairstylist Alexandra Wilson told Brides.

Down

If you opt for down, you can go for the on-trend low ponytail, with hair either sleeked back or allowing a few romantic tendrils to escape to frame the face.

Another popular look is the center part, which complements any face shape and any length of hair.

Up and down

Half-up/half-down looks combine the best of both worlds, and the 2022 trend is for braids and extra volume in this style.

“Half up is always popular as it provides brides with the comfort of having some of their hair down to frame their face,” Wilson told Brides.

Speaking of popular, if you want the perfect venue to set off your reception, check out the Historic Alfred I. duPont building in downtown Miami. With its dramatic interiors, it makes an ideal setting for any wedding theme.
